Gary Cook and Dylan Walls each scored two goals to propel the DeSales High School boys soccer team past Hartley 6-0 in a Division II district final Saturday at Grandview.

The Stallions, who improved to 15-1-3, have won three consecutive district titles.

"We wanted to come out here and show that we're playing every game like is the state championship," said Cook, whose team also beat Hartley 3-0 on Sept. 15 in CCL play. "(Winning convincingly) was real important to us."

Cook scored his first goal with a little about 20 minutes left before halftime to make it 2-0. His second came 9:32 into the second half for a 3-0 lead.

Walls made it 5-0 on a breakaway with just over 23 minutes left, and he scored the final goal with eight minutes left.

Angelo Pagani led the scoring with a goal five minutes into the game. Hartley appeared to have a crossing pass defended, but Pagani jumped to kick the ball in the air past the defense.

"That was just an amazing play," said Hartley coach Chris Kowalski, whose team finished 9-5-5. "We thought we had him marked and he put it in. That kind of set the tone for them the rest of the way. We would have liked to have had a better showing, but (DeSales) is a great team. They have no major weaknesses."

Michael DiCesare also scored for the Stallions. His goal came with 27:24 left in the second half for a 4-0 lead.

The Stallions, who are seeking their third consecutive regional title, play at 7 p.m. Tuesday at in a regional semifinal against Marietta.

DeSales and Marietta played in a regional semifinal in 2007 with the Stallions winning 4-0.

DeSales is seeking its third consecutive regional title.
