Canal Winchester: Jarvis resigns from village council
Nov 04, 2009
Canal Winchester Village Councilman Bruce Jarvis announced Monday night he will not serve out the remaining two years of his term in office.
Jarvis will resign from council, effective Jan. 4, 2010, to become program director of Main Street Canal Winchester.
He will replace John Garrett, currently executive director of the local Main Street organization, who is retiring in January.
Jarvis said his position of program director will be different in name but identical in practice to that of executive director.
He said council will have 30 days from the effective date of his resignation to find a replacement to fulfill the two remaining years of his term. If council is unable to agree on a candidate, the mayor can name someone to fill the seat.
Main Street Canal Winchester focuses on creating economic development and community events downtown.
Additional information on this story will appear online later this week and in the Nov. 5 edition of ThisWeek Canal Winchester.
