Nov 05, 2009
The Dublin Arts Council has selected three finalists for its bicentennial public art project that will be installed at the historic Karrer Barn next fall.
After a national call for artists, a committee formed by the Dublin Arts Council chose the three artists from more than 100 applicants from 27 states.
The finalists are: Brower Hatcher, a Providence, R.I., artist who has created more than 40 public art projects; Raleigh, N.C., sculptor Thomas Sayre, who has been involved in the design and construction of more than 30 projects; and Suikang Zhao, a New York artist who bases his work on existing architectural concepts.
The finalists will visit the Karrer Barn site, 225 S. High St., this month to help develop proposals for a Dec. 15 presentation before the selection committee and the public. The presentation is slated for 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 15 in Dublin City Council chambers, 5200 Emerald Parkway.
The winner will be announced by Dec. 18.
